It might just be that the Congress feels that some of Jai Hos grand good luck will rub off on the party.
Its got Percept Picture Company to acquire the rights of the song from AR Rahmans Oscar-winning score for Slumdog Millionaire, and make a promotional video for the party.
Says Navin Shah, CEO, PPC, Many parties wanted to use this song for their election campaigns, but we immediately bought the rights from the music company and will be making a new video on it with some new lyrics as well, using the Jai Ho tune.

We thought that the content of the video, coupled with the lyrics, would be upbeat and gel well with the mood of the nation in these tough days of recession and terror attacks. The songs already close to every Indians heart. Gulzar will not, however, as reported, write the lyrics for this version.
The video will be a mix of old and new footage of Congress leaders. The party has had leaders like Nehru, Indira, Rajiv and Sonia Gandhi. A lot of archival footage will be used in the video, coupled with footage of younger leaders like Rahul Gandhi and others. But I cant share too many details. The video will be out soon, says Shah.
